Based on international agreements all international shipping and ports are regulated by the ISPS Code (International Ship and Port Facility Security) defined by the UN's International Maritime Organization (IMO).
The ISPS Code consists of regulations and directions set to protect international shipping from security related incidents. E.g. In Denmark, the directive has been implemented in the Executive Order on Port Security.

The ISM Code is The International Safety Management code set by the International Maritime Organization, IMO. The ISM Code provides general principles and objectives to maintain high standards of safety and environmental protection.
As for the ISPS Code every set of regulations are to be individually adjusted to fit the needs of every unique port, including optional offline functions.
